Hi John,
This year is going to be a big year for clean energy. Our growing team of organizers across the state are working with communities at the local level to establish clean energy policies. We know the power local governments hold to enact policies that will protect our future from pollution and ensure all communities have access to a healthy environment.
Keeping the momentum
Last year we helped multiple local communities pass clean energy resolutions [[link removed]], including De Pere, Brown County, and Wauwatosa. Now we plan to keep that momentum going – with the help of activists like you – in 2022 and continue to be leaders on clean energy work across the state. Here are two local clean energy campaigns to follow:
City of Appleton
Climate Organizer Gregory Gauthier has been hard at work organizing community members and local elected officials to establish a permanent Climate Change Commission for the city.
We are asking leaders to:
- Support clean energy and net-zero carbon emissions goals;
- Support the creation of a permanent Climate Change Commission;
- Support the creation of a Resiliency Specialist with the direction of the Climate Change Commission, stakeholders, and government departments to direct its response on climate solutions and mitigation efforts;
- Ensure the city is making daily progress toward climate resiliency goals.
If you live in Appleton, you can use this form to write your city officials. [[link removed]]
School District of La Crosse
School boards have a lot of potential when it comes to climate policies and have a direct impact on our children’s future. It’s time for the School District of La Crosse to join dozens of other school districts and communities around Wisconsin and commit to climate action.
We’re working alongside other local organizations to build public support for a clean energy resolution.
You can help by signing our petition demanding the School District of La Crosse commit to 100 percent clean energy by 2050. [[link removed]]
