Too many political leaders have been given a free pass—that ends now. U.S. Capitol police personnel take part in a training exercise at the Capitol on June 7 in D.C. Photo: Matt McClain for The Washington Post John, There has been a lot of talk about the January 6 insurrection today on the first anniversary of the riot. We've seen some justice for hundreds of rioters who destroyed property, broke into the Capitol and the offices and chambers inside, and fought police in violent confrontation that resulted in death and numerous injuries. But it has not been enough. Trump and his allies have not been fully held accountable for their role in instigating the riot—including the Members of Congress who communicated with the organizers of the riot and the effort to overturn a legitimate democratic election. And there has not been enough of a political price exacted on those who continue to support the anti-democratic and fascist wing of the Republican Party. The Colorado Turnout Project was formed for this very purpose: to ensure that insurrectionists like Lauren Boebert pay a political price for their treason. If you want to help fight for political accountability for the failed 2020 insurrection, and work to prevent another attempt in 2024, join our coalition today in commemoration of the tragedy of January 6: If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Express Donate: $5 Express Donate: $15 Express Donate: $25 Express Donate: $50 Express Donate: $100 Or, donate another amount The real fight for justice for January 6 will require us all to never let up in our demand for truth and accountability.
