** Dear John,

We are bringing our "Free Speech and Civil Discourse ([link removed]) " colloquium which will be held on October 9-10 at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita.

This two-day colloquium will delve into primary source readings that explore sides of the free speech discussion, civil discourse, and the impact on American society. This dialogue-based program invites participants to examine the Constitutional foundations of free speech, and trace the evolution and understanding of free speech and civil discourse in the United States. Readings will span time periods from before the Founding to the modern-day, and feature varied sources of texts. Participants will also model and explore the pedagogical approach of Socratic practice, with a focus on practical applications for their classrooms.

High School Student Opportunity:

We are also bringing a student program to Wichita this fall with the same theme!

The goal of the student symposium is to engage, equip, and connect students with the skills and understandings necessary to be the next generation of principled leaders. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with inspiring voices on the subjects, tackle issues important to their communities and Kansas, and discuss how their generation must respond to these pressing issues in their daily lives.

In this one-day symposium, students will:
* explore sides of the Free Speech discussion in 21st Century America, civil discourse, and community impact activities
* have rich interactions with fellow students and BRI content
* develop a better understanding of the ways discourse and freedom can flourish in the United States.

Students need to register on their own, but educators are welcome to attend with their students!
