Dear advocate,
Thanks to the generosity of grassroots supporters like you, along with a contribution from the Ken & Ashley Lee Foundation, OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates has raised more than $38,000 for our youth and advocacy programs—meaning that we’re officially 25% to our goal of $150,000!
SUPPORT OUR YOUTH PROGRAMS ([link removed])
But with only a few more days remaining in 2021, we’re far from where we need to be to fully fund our policy work next year. OCA relies on individual donations to continue our advocacy—including efforts to combat anti-Asian hate, promote AAPI history in K-12 schools, and protect our communities during the pandemic.
Your contributions also fund our youth development programs, including the largest paid summer internship program for AAPI students in Washington, D.C. Falling short of our $150,000 goal means fewer interns in 2022—and reduced opportunities to create a government that reflects our communities.
Your support is needed more than ever, and now is the best time to give. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation before December 31 so that we can sustain a pipeline of future AAPI leaders.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

"This internship was all about meeting incredible people. Even though we worked remotely I still felt a closeness and friendship with the OCA staff and my fellow interns. I learned so much about activism and it was inspiring to meet so many other people who were passionate about seeking change in the world." — Alexander Shinkawa, 2020 OCA National Development Intern

"My cohort members were honest, strong, determined, confident and so on. They taught me that despite all the different obstacles we had to go through individually, I could depend on them as a collective." — Zeta Atoigue, 2021 OCA National Chapter and Membership Development Intern

"My favorite aspect of the OCA internship program was the diversity of our cohort. Not only did we come from different ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, but we were also paired with a diverse set of organizations. Our different perspectives and experiences promoted empowering and meaningful collaboration." — Hunter Akiyoshi, 2021 Policy and Programs Intern at JACL
Since 1989, support from generous donors has allowed OCA National Center to send nearly 550 interns to Washington, D.C.
Help us raise $150,000 before the end of 2021. Your gift directly funds the largest and oldest internship program for AAPI college students in the nation’s capital.
