Where I grew up, if you fell behind or messed up, you were more likely to end up in prison than in college. That's why I just met with inmates at a DC jail to discuss solutions with them, directly. And why I'm asking you to add your name in support of my transformative criminal justice plan. I need 50,000 signatures before midnight. >>

I grew up in a neighborhood without much privilege.

Our public schools were severely under-resourced -- only a few of us made it to college.

And if we messed up even once, we were more likely to end up in prison before walking across the graduation stage.

The truth is, people like me are rarely given a first chance to succeed -- much less a second.

That's why I just released my First Chance criminal justice plan to TRANSFORM our broken system into one that gives folks a real chance from the start. I hope you'll take a second to read about it -- then sign your name if you support it. I need 50,000 signatures before midnight. >>

Let me be clear:

I won't stand for a criminal justice system that punishes people for being poor and underprivileged.

I know the best way to reduce the number of people in our jails -- is to prevent them from entering the system to begin with.

That starts with giving folks a real First Chance to succeed from the start.

I'm asking you to add your name next to mine before midnight if you have my back on this. I need 50,000 signatures strong if you agree underprivileged kids in this country shouldn't be more likely to go to prison than graduate. >>
