Dear John,

45 days.

That's the average life span of a chicken raised for meat.

For chickens like Ross, the suffering starts the day they hatch.

Help Ross, Double Your Impact

Ross's life began in a large commercial hatchery. He never knew his mother.

Once hatched, he was piled into a small box with dozens of other chicks.

Hours later, Ross was delivered to a commercial farm where he was dumped onto the floor of a barren, dimly lit shed with thousands of other birds.

Like most chickens raised for meat, Ross was bred to grow too big too rapidly. As often happens to birds like these, Ross may collapse under his own weight, unable to stand or walk and unable to reach food and water as a result.

Although painful and traumatizing for the birds, the chicken industry considers such breeding β€œcommon practice.”

Ross was one of many chicks our investigators saw at a Costco supplier farm. Because of hard-working advocates like you, Costco has taken important steps toward reducing suffering for chickens in its supply chain.

You can help drive meaningful change for chickens like Ross by giving a gift to Mercy For Animals.

When you donate today, your gift will be doubled.
