With each hour, every movement becomes more painful. Ross was bred to grow extremely large very quickly, and now he feels the consequences of this practice.
Moving freely has become impossible. Walking is a struggle. Sitting for long periods on soiled litter has caused him to lose feathers.
He is nearing the end of his 45-day life.
Ross and the chickens who surround him are gathered, crammed into crates, and loaded onto trucks bound for the slaughterhouse. |

Their deaths are grisly and terrifying. Most chickens like Ross are hung upside down while conscious, dragged through electrified water, and slashed at the throat.
