** Dear Jack,
------------------------------------------------------------
With less than a week to go before Christmas and with the two by-elections now behind us, I wanted to write today to thank you, and to look back on what has been a truly remarkable year for those of us involved in Reform UK.
As I’ve said before, it is almost hard to believe that as we approached Christmas last year, Reform UK was still not yet approved by the Electoral Commission!
Consider with me for a moment the things that we have been able to achieve together since.
In May we stood a full slate of candidates in the Welsh Senedd elections, as we also did for the Greater London Assembly Elections. We stood over a dozen Police and Crime Commissioner candidates and a record number of candidates in the Scottish Parliamentary Elections.
We didn’t just stand candidates either. We mounted serious campaigns in those areas, canvassing huge parts of London and delivering leaflets to every house in Wales, large parts of Scotland and London and also across Hartlepool, where we stood in our first Westminster by-election.
We had a great candidate standing for us in Hartlepool. John Prescott worked tirelessly for Reform UK, which was evidenced by him finishing ahead of the Greens and the Lib Dems.
There have been other by-elections since. Airdrie & Shott. Chesham & Amersham and more recently Old Bexley & Sidcup and North Shropshire. To be a real political party that people will take seriously, I’m an avid believer that you need to stand in every election you can reasonably do. We have done that since we first formed, with only two exceptions and for both of those we had very strong reasons as to why we didn’t participate.
I want to say a particular thanks to John Prescott, Martyn Greene, Alex Wilson and Kirsty Walmsley for having the courage to put their heads above the political parapet in those by-elections. They all continue to do our party proud.
At the start of October we had our first Party Conference in Manchester where, despite fuel shortages and covid restrictions, hundreds of our supporters came to listen to a great lineup of speakers outlining our optimistic, positive vision for the future.
Our conference coincided with the launch of our first policy document, ‘Reform is Essential”, which now plays a key role in our by-election campaigns and which continues to attract attention from voters across the country (along with – it seems – policymakers in Downing Street)!

Throughout all of that, we have continued to climb steadily in the polls and look set to end the year on 7%. Just to put that into perspective, it has taken other new parties over a decade to get to that point – we’ve done it in nine months.
Perhaps even better is knowing that the last two by-elections saw Reform UK elevate itself firmly into the top five parties across the country. Be in no doubt that we are now contenders, not "also-rans"!
Despite the frustration of having 14 candidates running in North Shropshire and 11 in Old Bexley, I’m confident that those voters and political activists from around the country, who believe in secure borders, low taxes, free speech and who want to see an end to wokery, those people will now see is that Reform UK is the only credible, viable alternative to the real Socialists and the ConSocialists.
Given the clear message that these by-elections results have delivered, I’m inviting everybody who demands a change to the Westminster status-quo to join us now. Make Reform UK your political home and be a part of the incredible journey that we’ve already started.
JOIN US ([link removed])
What you’ll be joining is an organisation that has big plans for the next twelve months.
We have over 300 Westminster candidates waiting to be allocated to seats, a process that will start in January. We will be rolling out our new membership model that recognises not just the money you give to the party but the time and energy that you give as well. Our structure will be further developed to make it easier for local members to get in touch with one another. We will launch our much-anticipated policy working groups to help develop our policy platform in advance of the next General Election and we will be standing in as many council by-elections as we can between now and the next set of local elections in May, where I’ll need every member to play their part by putting themselves forward.
January is going to be a busy month and whilst we all need a break over Christmas, there is already real energy and excitement at the prospect of returning in the new year to start working through the above.
Until then, on behalf of Dr David Bull and myself, I want to thank you again so much for all of your efforts over this last year. I want to wish you a restful and relaxing Christmas with your friends and family and a very enjoyable New Year.
Many thanks,
Richard Tice
