How is this Possible? [[link removed]]

Dear John,

Did you know that 8 children and teens are unintentionally injured or killed due to family fire [[link removed]] ? Family fire is a shooting involving an improperly stored or misused gun in the home that results in death or injury. The facts are startling —

* 4.6 million children live in homes with access to an unlocked or unsupervised gun.

* 75 percent of kids know where a gun is stored in their home.

* 51 percent of all suicide fatalities are by firearm and 60 percent of all gun deaths are by suicide.

There are policy solutions we can enact today to end family fire. This week, we were proud to help introduce the Prevent Family Fire Act of 2019. This lifesaving legislation will help reduce gun violence — including suicide and unintentional shootings — by providing a modest tax credit for retailers to incentivize the sale of safe storage devices for firearms. On Tuesday, Virginians head to the polls. And the entire nation is watching. With all 140 seats on the Virginia General Assembly up for grabs, now’s the chance to elect a gun violence prevention majority. A victory in the Commonwealth will let us know things are looking good for 2020. But here's the thing: We only have THREE DAYS left until Election Day. Brady has been hard at work in Virginia, from endorsing more than 30 gun safety champions to canvassing in NRA-backed districts, and now we need you to help us finish the job. Will you sign up to help us get out the vote in Virginia?

* Get out the vote in Virginia Beach on Saturday, Nov. 2, for Cheryl Turpin (SD-7) [[link removed]]

We Denounce President Trump’s Comments Comparing Chicago to Afghanistan ❌

Nope, nope, nope. During Trump’s first visit to Chicago as President, he said that “Afghanistan is a safe place by comparison” to Chicago. Yet the truth is that violent crime in Chicago has been on the decline since 2016. And let’s be clear, if Trump truly cared about keeping Chicagoans safe, he would provide the city with the resources it needs to curb gun violence. Resources like trace data — information that is critical in tracing the flow of crime guns into the city of Chicago. His latest comments confirm what we already know — that we need a President who will support evidence-based solutions, not mock our communities and fuel myths about violence. Our chance is in 2020. Brady Quote of the Week 🎤

“Serving in combat as a Marine, we were always vigilant against Friendly Fire to protect our brothers and sisters in arms. Similarly, civilian gun owners must do whatever we can to protect against family fire. This is an issue we can all agree on. By providing incentives for retailers to sell more firearm safe storage devices, we can help save lives.”
