Trains, buses and trams, walking and cycling, have amazing potential to replace polluting journeys. But they need support.

Let's make transport better, greener and fairer for all.

** Let's build a green transport future
------------------------------------------------------------

Hello

As we approach Christmas, I'm writing to thank you. This year, as lockdown eased and people began to move around more, you helped us to show the importance of sustainable transport. The Government agreed to invest in reopening more disused rail lines, and published an ambitious plan for better buses.

But there is much still to do. COP26 focused politicians' attention on climate change, but when it came to transport, they talked a lot about greener cars and planes, and little about the need to drive and fly less. Appallingly, the Government cut tax on domestic flights just days before COP26.

We need your help to change this. Every community needs good, affordable public transport, and the Government must become its biggest champion. And the greenest modes of all, walking and cycling, need proper support. Can you make a donation to our Christmas appeal ([link removed]) and help build a truly green transport future?

One of our supporters, Penny, put it this way:
"I want the Government to stop talking about potential climate solutions and start showing real support for the climate-friendly buses and trains we already have"
- Penny

Another supporter, Mair, highlighted a big problem:
"I would like to have holidays in Wales and Cornwall by train but the fares can cost more than a flight to Europe! It's unfair that the lower carbon option is more expensive"
- Mair

Real action on climate change means making rail and bus the affordable choice, increasing services and encouraging people out of cars and planes. But persuading the Government will take a lot of work and we will need your help. Please make a donation to our Christmas appeal.

Thank you so much, and all the very best for the festive season.
