Dear John

Warning – a few mentions of Christmas ahead! But also updates on our campaigns and ways that you can get involved. Thanks for your help!

GOOD NEWS!

We are delighted to learn today that the planning appeal for the creation of a
large-scale industrial broiler chicken ‘farm' in Rufforth, near York, has been
dismissed. The first application was in 2015 and thankfully many of you sent
in objections at various stages of this long-running planning process.

The Public Inquiry had finished in quite dramatic style with the appellant's
aviation expert coming unravelled during cross-examination. As that was the
reason for refusal and the whole basis of their case (due to the nearby
glider club), things did not look very good for them. This result
represents a positive end to the matter.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
A huge thank you to all of our supporters who ordered resources in order to take
part in our first ‘Warfare experiments awareness week’. More than 10,000 leaflets
and postcards have been sent out to be distributed from 2nd - 10th November. If
you didn’t order resources, but would still like to help our campaign,
it’s not too late! Order your resources now and help spread the word!

ASK KELLOGG'S TO MAKE IT VEGAN!
Kellogg’s is one of the world’s best known cereal brands, and indeed many people
enjoy their cereals. However, the majority of their cereals contain
animal-derived vitamin D which makes them unsuitable for vegans.

Please join us in urging Kellogg's UK to switch to a plant-based vitamin D
in their cereals:

MEET THE RESCUE TURKEYS WHO MAY JUST TURN YOU VEGAN THIS CHRISTMAS
This year we are running Their Christmas Wish . Their Christmas Wish refers
to the lucky turkeys who get to live out their lives free from harm in
rescue centres. Their Christmas Wish aims to ensure as many people as
possible have a cruelty-free Christmas dinner, to spare turkeys just
like them from suffering and death.

Take a look at our new films, which show just how amazing turkeys are.

RACE HORSES FAILED BY THE GOVERNMENT

Just over a year ago (October 2018), a Parliamentary Debate took place as the
result of more than 105,000 people signing a government petition, calling for a
new independent welfare body to protect race horses from abuse and death.

However, more horses were killed in the first six months of 2019 than in the
same period in 2018 and the racing industry has not taken any meaningful action
to reduce the death rate.

Please write to your MP, demanding action
