Dear John

Warning – a few mentions of Christmas ahead! But also updates on our campaigns and ways that you can get involved. Thank you for your support.

chicken

Good news!

We are delighted to learn today that the planning appeal for the creation of a large-scale industrial broiler chicken ‘farm' in Rufforth, near York, has been dismissed. The first application was in 2015 and thankfully many of you sent in objections at various stages of this long-running planning process.

This result represents a positive end to the matter. Thanks for your help!

guinea pig

Thank you!

A huge thank you to all of our supporters who have ordered resources in order to take part in our first ‘Warfare experiments awareness week’. More than 10,000 leaflets and postcards have been sent out to be distributed from 2nd - 10th November. Thank you.

New Animal Aid film on squirrel rescue

We recently visited Urban Squirrels and Folly Wildlife Rescue to meet some adorable rescued squirrels, watch a release, and talk to staff about the upcoming revocation of the licences. This will effectively make squirrel rescue illegal.

Kellogg's logo

Ask Kellogg's to make it vegan!

Kellogg’s is one of the world’s best known and widely-available cereal brands. However, the majority of their cereals contain animal-derived vitamin D which makes them unsuitable for vegans.

Please join us in urging Kellogg's UK & Ireland to switch to a plant-based vitamin D in their cereals

turkey at the Retreat

Meet the rescued turkeys who may just turn you vegan this Christmas!

This year we are running Their Christmas WishTheir Christmas Wish refers to the lucky turkeys who get to live out their lives free from harm in rescue centres. Their Christmas Wish aims to ensure that as many people as possible have a cruelty-free Christmas dinner, to spare turkeys just like them from suffering and death.

Take a look at our new films, which show just how amazing turkeys are.

Race horses failed by the government

Just over a year ago (October 2018), a Parliamentary Debate took place as the result of more than 105,000 people signing a government petition, calling for a new independent welfare body to protect race horses from abuse and death.

However, more horses were killed in the first six months of 2019 than in the same period in 2018 and the racing industry has not taken any meaningful action to reduce the death rate.

Please write to your MP, demanding action!

Animal Aid stall at Christmas Festival

Animal Aid Christmas Festivals – we need your help!

The South West Christmas Festival is on 23rd November at Exeter Corn Exchange and our London Festival is on 8th December at Kensington Town Hall.

Not long to go now and we have two wonderful days planned! Such an exciting speaker line-up, you won't  be disappointed – keep an eye on social media as we reveal special guests. And of course, amazing exhibitors, plus gorgeous food – four different caterers at London! We look forward to seeing you at one of the Festivals.

Help! Could you distribute a few leaflets or posters to London or South-West stores, cafés, etc?  Or could you volunteer for a few hours on the day? (We are particularly looking for help in London on 8 December.) Please email Iain! Thank you.
