24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Trevor’s trained crisis counselors answer calls, chats, and texts. One of our Lifeline counselors, Belamy, recently spoke with a 7-year-old child.
“I remember it very distinctively because they were so young,” Bellamy recalled. “They had come out, weren’t accepted, and felt they had no other choice but to complete suicide.”
We estimate that every year in the U.S., more than 1.8 million LGBTQ young people like that 7-year-old seriously consider suicide.
