# [#] John, it's been a busy past few weeks on the Philadelphia City Council. Today, I’d like to update you on some of what I’ve been working on to improve the lives of Philadelphians.
*
On
Election
Day,
both
of
my
ballot
initiatives

expanding
Philly’s
Housing
Trust
Fund
and
calling
on
Pennsylvania
legislators
to
decriminalize,
regulate,
and
tax
cannabis
for
adult-use

passed
with
widespread
support.
*
This
month
we
held
a
hearing
regarding
fixing
Philly
schools’
mold
and
asbestos
problem,
and
my
measure
to
increase
economic
opportunities
for
minority-owned,
women-owned,
and
disabled-owned
businesses
was
passed.
*
I
am
continuing
my
work
to
reform
Philadelphia’s
taxes
through
the
Tax
Reform
Working
Group
,
and
my
work
to
establish
a
public
banking
system
in
Philadelphia

and
I’m
proud
to
announce
that
I
was
selected
as
a
finalist
for
The
New
Deal
Ideas
Challenge
due
to
this
innovative
plan.
