OCTOBER 31, 2019: A National Retail Federation survey found that 172 million Americans plan to celebrate Halloween today. Spending on costumes, candy, and more will total $8.8 billion.[1] ([link removed])

That total includes $3.2 billion spent buying costumes, a number boosted by the fact that 29 million people plan to dress their pets in costume.[1] ([link removed])
