The Verifier team’s goal is to give voters as much information as possible about how their votes are cast and counted. That’s why Warren Stewart, Verified Voting’s Senior Editor and Data Specialist, and I are excited to be bringing back a popular map to show how mail ballots are tabulated in jurisdictions across the country, along with tooltips to help you get the most out of your visit. Mail voting surged in the 2020 election and some states vote entirely by mail. Mail ballots are counted using batch-fed optical scanners, hand-fad optical scanners, or by hand. Voting technology sometimes involves tricky jargon (and a lot of interesting stats!) and we want to make sure we’re transparent about our data and give you the information you need.
