Dear Friends,
As Congress prepares to debate passage of the Build Back Better Act ([link removed]) , aspects of the $1.75 billion spending proposal hold the potential to fundamentally transform America’s early care and education landscape – creating universal prekindergarten for 3- and 4-year-olds, expanding access to affordable, high-quality child care, and addressing the compensation needs of the early childhood workforce.
In preparation, The Hunt Institute has released ([link removed]) Childcare and Prekindergarten in The Build Back Better Act: A Guide for Policymakers ([link removed]) , which condenses roughly 100 pages of pertinent bill language into 6 pages of question and answer-style summary.
Based on the current working version of the House bill released October 28^th, this summary document will be updated regularly as the Act works its way through the legislative process.
We hope you find this a useful resource.
