Dear Friends,

As Congress prepares to debate passage of the Build Back Better Act, aspects of the $1.75 billion spending proposal hold the potential to fundamentally transform America’s early care and education landscape – creating universal prekindergarten for 3- and 4-year-olds, expanding access to affordable, high-quality child care, and addressing the compensation needs of the early childhood workforce.

In preparation, The Hunt Institute has released Childcare and Prekindergarten in The Build Back Better Act: A Guide for Policymakerswhich condenses roughly 100 pages of pertinent bill language into 6 pages of question and answer-style summary.

Based on the current working version of the House bill released October 28th, this summary document will be updated regularly as the Act works its way through the legislative process.

We hope you find this a useful resource.
