[ [link removed] ]The Whiteboard at Truth to Power

John,

I’m back in Washington this week, busy advocating for the Build Back
Better Act. We’re fighting to make sure families across this country
benefit from this legislation and all it will bring—affordable child care,
an expansion of Medicare, a national paid family leave program, and so
much more.

And while there is still work to be done to get this across the finish
line, I’m excited that this month’s edition of The Whiteboard is about
hope, and a feeling of optimism about our future. You can read it below.

Outside of Washington, organizers and candidates are gearing up for the
2022 midterms, ready to take on any fight in the name of working people.

That’s the mission of every Truth to Power candidate, and it’s why we need
to build a strong, grassroots movement to support them in
2022. [ [link removed] ]John,
join me in building our movement by
chipping in to Truth to Power today. Your donation will help us support
these campaigns as they organize, mobilize, build support, and reach more
voters.

Onward,

Katie

John,

Welcome back to The Whiteboard, our monthly newsletter where we show you
what Truth to Power endorsed candidates have been up to. We hope you’re
having a steady week and are grappling with the fact that October is
already halfway over—don’t forget to get your flu shot if you haven’t
already!

This month at Truth to Power, we’re thinking a lot about hope. And how
important it can be in challenging times. It’s no secret—Democrats have a
tough road to 2022. There is virtually no room for error. But that
shouldn’t scare us, John. It’s just further proof that we need to double down. And
here’s why: We have so many folks in the corner of working people across
the US, fighting for us.

We’re organizers, John, and we never turn away from a challenge.

and local politics.

Thank you @WestchesterYD for coming out this weekend
and knocking doors!

Across our county, volunteers and activists are knocking doors and working
to advance the issues that are most closely-held to their communities.
People are texting their neighbors, reminding friends to register to vote,
and never giving up. Because the things we are fighting for are too
important to turn away from: climate change, affordable childcare, a
living wage, our right to vote—the list goes on.

[ [link removed] ]@katieporteroc High child care costs aren't just unsustainable for
families, they're unsustainable for our economy.
Parents are leaving the workforce because they can't
find affordable care for their kids. I'm fighting to
cap child care expenses at 7% of income to help
families—and our economy.

As we head into 2022, Truth to Power will continue to support candidates
who are committed to the biggest issues of our time—and who are done
waiting.

[ [link removed] ]@Carolyn4GA7 I'm done waiting for GOP politicians to do the right
thing. That's why I introduced legislation to expand
Medicaid to holdout states. This will cover the
470,000 Georgians who Kemp and the Georgia GOP
refuses to provide healthcare to.

[ [link removed] ]The stakes are that high, John,
and that’s why we’re asking you today to
support our upcoming slate of Truth to Power endorsed candidates,
incredible leaders like the folks you see above. These candidates will
keep fighting alongside Katie Porter in Congress—we wouldn’t ask if it
weren’t important.

We hope that this edition of our Whiteboard has helped you maintain hope.
You help us do just that every day!

In gratitude,

The Whiteboard at Truth to Power
