#SUDEPActionday2021
Today is SUDEP Action Day ([link removed]) , a day in which we honor the memories of those we’ve lost by bringing the epilepsy community together to raise awareness of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) and to educate on SUDEP prevention strategies to reduce the risks to those living with epilepsy.
In support of SUDEP Action Day, we have developed important content to watch, read, and share all week. SUDEP can happen to anyone with epilepsy, and it is tragic that we still hear from parents, caregivers, and loved ones that they were never informed about the possibility of SUDEP and how to minimize the risks. Please encourage your friends and families to engage with this content and to share broadly the programs below to help raise awareness.
* Share these infographics on known SUDEP Risk Factors and Ways to Mitigate Risk ([link removed]) with your family and friends on Facebook ([link removed]) , Instagram ([link removed]) , and Twitter ([link removed]) all week.
* Watch or listen to Wednesday’s episode of Seizing Life ([link removed]) ® with Dr. Elizabeth Donner as she provides an overview of SUDEP, including what we currently know, risk factors, prevention strategies, and more. The episode will be available on Facebook Premier on Wednesday October 20th at 12pm CT and then on our website ([link removed]) shortly there after.
* Participate in Thursday’s free webinar on SUDEP & the Heart ([link removed]) , live at 1pm CT on October 21st. This webinar will help viewers learn how altered cardiac function may lead to SUDEP and why it is critical for the epilepsy community to take a holistic approach to fully understand the biological changes that ultimately cause SUDEP.
* Watch last year’s webinar on Breathing and SUDEP: Research & the Influence of Seizures on the Respiratory System ([link removed]) .
* Tune back in on Friday, when we’ll highlight a new research discovery for SUDEP ([link removed]) identified by CURE Epilepsy grantee Dr. Franck Kalume.
You can also follow us on Facebook ([link removed]) , Instagram ([link removed]) , and Twitter ([link removed]) for all updates regarding SUDEP Action Day 2021.
It’s #Time2Change ([link removed]) what people know about SUDEP so they can reduce the risk to themselves or their loved one living with epilepsy.
