John,
When Climate Justice Alliance formed in 2013, it was due in part to the
recognition of the need to strengthen democratic representation of
frontline community leadership at national climate movement tables, as well
as in international spaces such as the UN Climate Change conferences.
Frontline Communities must be front and center, since those closest to the
problems are best positioned to envision the transformative solutions we
need.
THE 26TH ANNUAL UN CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE (COP26) IS TAKING PLACE THIS
NOVEMBER IN GLASGOW, SCOTLAND, and Climate Justice Alliance members
Cooperation Jackson [3], Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives [4],
Grassroots Global Justice Alliance [5], Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy
[6], East Michigan Environmental Action Council [7], Indigenous
Environmental Network [8], Jobs With Justice [9], Just Transition Alliance
[10], Micronesia Climate Change Alliance [11], Organización Boricuá de
Agricultura Ecológica de Puerto Rico [12], Southwest Organizing Project
[13] and Urban Tilth [14] will be on the ground. Together, we will speak
truth to power as we confront global leaders, help redefine climate
leadership, and ensure that community voices are heard at the highest
levels of decision making. We will also push back against greenwashing and
profiteers to keep false solutions to the climate crisis like
geoengineering [15] and net zero [16] off the table.
Climate Justice Alliance is going to Glasgow as part of the It Takes Roots
COP26 frontline delegation [17].

SUPPORT THE GLOBAL DAY FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE ON NOVEMBER 6
In order to achieve the policy shifts we need, even the best inside
strategies at COP26 will not be strong enough if we are not organizing
powerful, grassroots pressure on the outside as well. NOVEMBER 6 WILL BE A
GLOBAL DAY FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE. Climate Justice Alliance will take to the
streets in Glasgow, as part of the It Takes Roots frontline delegation
[17], and in unity with social movements across the globe, led by the
people most impacted by the climate crisis. THE COP26COALITION HAS ISSUED A
CALL FOR DECENTRALIZED MASS MOBILIZATIONS [18] ACROSS THE WORLD.

How to Make Sense of It All
The People's Solutions Lens for COP26
IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO KEEP UP WITH THE SLEW OF CLIMATE SOLUTIONS THAT ARE
BEING DISCUSSED AT COP26, AND NOT ALL “SOLUTIONS” ARE INHERENTLY
EQUITABLE OR JUST. Fortunately, we’ve identified five straight-forward
questions that can help you separate false solutions from the real deal.
Use the People’s Solutions Lens to determine whether the various policy
proposals that are being brought forward at COP26 are rooted in justice for
workers, frontline communities, and the environment:
5 QUESTIONS [19]

RED BLACK & GREEN NEW DEAL
The Red Black and Green New Deal [20] (RBGND) is an initiative of the
Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) [21] anchored by Climate Justice Alliance
member Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy [6]. The RBGND centers Black
liberation in the global climate struggle and addresses the impact of
climate change and environmental racism on Black communities. AN RBGND
DELEGATION WILL BE ON THE GROUND AT COP26 IN SCOTLAND TO STAND IN
SOLIDARITY WITH THE GLOBAL SOUTH AND TO ADVANCE ADVOCACY AROUND CLIMATE
REPARATIONS WITH BLACK COMMUNITIES EVERYWHERE.

PLASTIC FUELS THE CLIMATE CRISIS
Climate breakdown is fueled by the myth that we can keep taking, making and
wasting finite resources. It’s time we exposed the fossil fuel industries
behind the plastic and climate crises, and make zero waste part of the
climate solution!
CLIMATE JUSTICE ALLIANCE MEMBER GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR INCINERATOR
ALTERNATIVES (GAIA) ISSUED A CALL TOGETHER WITH 300 ORGANIZATIONS FROM
AROUND THE WORLD [22], DEMANDING THAT OUR LEADERS TRANSITION TO A
FOSSIL-FREE, ZERO WASTE FUTURE!
