Congratulations to Nursing Innovations Fund Award Winners
For their creative proposals to build greater health equity, six state coalitions have earned financial backing from the Campaign for Action Nursing Innovations Fund. Delaware, Kentucky, Montana, Pennsylvania, Utah, and West Virginia secured matching funds for a range of inspired nurse-led collaborative projects that tackle inequities in health.

American Academy of Nursing Inducts Honorees
The American Academy of Nursing has inducted its 2021 honorees, and the Campaign for Action is proud to have four among its leaders. Susan B. Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN, was named a Living Legend; Winifred V. Quinn, PhD, FAANP(h), is now an honorary fellow; Antonia Villarruel, PhD, RN, FAAN, earned the Health Care Leader Award and Catherine Alicia Georges, EdD, RN, FAAN, has earned its Lifetime Legacy Award. Congratulations to all honorees.

Nurse Wins AARP Purpose Prize for Aid to African Immigrants
“The African immigrant population in America is one of the most negatively affected by existing health inequities in the U.S.,” says Ify Anne Nwabukwu, BSN, RN. That’s why she founded the African Women’s Cancer Awareness Association in 2004—and it’s why AARP has awarded her $50,000 as one of five people over 50 earning a Purpose Prize this year.

Moore Inaugural Fellows Write of Importance of HBCUs
Newly published: Four fellows in the inaugural cohort of the Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators program have produced the program’s first collaborative paper of the program. Complex Care Center Offers Toolkit for Educators, Providers
The National Center for Complex Care and Social last year developed core competencies for frontline complex care providers. Now the Center is providing guidance for use of those core competency findings. The new toolkit reviews the principles of teaching and training complex care and helps educators and managers assess and improve their own efforts.

The Root Cause Coalition is proud to announce its new Health Justice Award program, honoring organizations that are partnering with others to reduce health disparities. American Red Cross Seeks Volunteers
The American Red Cross has put out a call for volunteers, listing its “most-needed volunteer opportunities” in shelters, disaster health services, blood collection support, and disaster action teams.
