Many people with disabilities rely on home- and community-based services to stay in our communities and out of congregate settings where cases of COVID-19 have continued to rise [[link removed]] , but HCBS remain underfunded. We’ve been making calls, sending emails, and spreading the word to our members of Congress, letting them know we need to invest in HCBS now. We’re hearing from our allies in Congress that your advocacy is working — but it’s not over yet. Difficult negotiations on the Hill could still mean HCBS funding is cut or dropped from upcoming legislation — so Congress needs to keep hearing that our community is worth fighting for. We have the power, let’s put it to work! Tell your Members of Congress to do their job and include at least $250 billion in funding for HCBS in the Build Back Better Act. All of us deserve to get the services we need to make it through COVID-19 safely — Congress can make that happen. [[link removed]]

You can use our script:
My name is [your full name] , and I am from [city] . I’m calling to ask Senator/Representative [Name] to make sure that COVID recovery includes at least $250 billion for home- and community-based services. This funding would provide a critical investment in services for people with disabilities and aging adults, as well as the workforce that provides those supports. Many people with disabilities and aging adults rely on home- and community-based services to do things like get dressed, take care of our families, work, and participate in our communities. Right now, thousands of people can’t get the support they need. We need a big investment to make community services work for everyone who needs them. Can I count on the Senator/Representative’s support?

Thank you for standing up for our community by lending your voice to this campaign! Funding for HCBS is a vital step toward building a more equitable world for all people with disabilities. With your continued support, we know we can make that world real.
