Many people with disabilities rely on home- and community-based services to stay in our communities and out of congregate settings where cases of COVID-19 have continued to rise, but HCBS remain underfunded. We’ve been making calls, sending emails, and spreading the word to our members of Congress, letting them know we need to invest in HCBS now. We’re hearing from our allies in Congress that your advocacy is working — but it’s not over yet. Difficult negotiations on the Hill could still mean HCBS funding is cut or dropped from upcoming legislation — so Congress needs to keep hearing that our community is worth fighting for. We have the power, let’s put it to work! Tell your Members of Congress to do their job and include at least $250 billion in funding for HCBS in the Build Back Better Act. All of us deserve to get the services we need to make it through COVID-19 safely — Congress can make that happen. It just takes a few clicks to make your voice heard!
