Raúl Grijalva convened a markup in the House Natural Resources Committee to consider two new pieces of legislation to strengthen regulation and oversight of offshore oil drilling. And both bills were also sponsored by SEEC members!

frequent
inspections
and
requiring
pipelines
to
be
equipped
with
a
leak
detection
system.

would
require
offshore
drilling
operators
to
report
failures
of
safety
systems
directly
to
the
Secretary
of
the
Interior,
who
would
then
be
required
to
disclose
these
reports
to
the
public.
These common sense bills passed the committee but without a single Republican voting in support.
