Dear Friend,
In recent months, we've seen the consequences of "U.S. exceptionalism"
unfold in Afghanistan, Haiti, as well as at the U.S./Mexico border. The
sobering truth is U.S. exceptionalism is a complex set of ideas that
sees the United States as exempt from and in some cases, superior to
international accountability and historical realities. Activists across
justice movements have named the real negative impacts of these myths
and the racist actions and policies that support them. From political
prisoners to border militarization, U.S. exceptionalism hides its
undemocratic impacts while claiming a democratic vision.
Join us this Thursday, October 14th for the newest installment of our
#RaceAnd The Movement Forward series –– #RaceAnd U.S. Exceptionalism:
Organizing Against Empire
