The United States, European Union and other major economies recently announced a new pledge to cut global methane emissions by 30% by 2030. Why is reducing methane emissions so important? Methane is the second most abundant greenhouse gas and raises global temperatures at a rate 86 times faster than carbon dioxide. Currently, while funders have committed over $16 billion to restore Africa’s degraded land, most of the money doesn’t reach the people on the ground who do the hard work of land restoration.
