It's two weeks until Challenge Poverty Week in England and Wales (11–17
October)! Church Action on Poverty is excited to be coordinating events being
organised by inspiring organisations throughout both countries. Please spread
the word, and join in a local event if you can – or join one of the many evebnts
that are still taking place online.

FOOD VULNERABILITY DURING COVID-19: LAUNCH OF NAVIGATING STORMS REPORT

12PM TUESDAY 12 OCTOBER
Hear from participants and researchers as they launch the Navigating Storms report, which discovers the truth about what leaves people at risk of not being
able to access enough, suitable, quality food, and what might be done to improve
things.

6PM TUESDAY 12 OCTOBER
People within the network of Self-Reliant Groups supported by Church Action on
Poverty have produced Our Cookery Book , which is full of recipes written by SRG members, with an explanation of why
they have chosen their recipes, and also many quotes from group members about
why the Self-Reliant Group movement is important to them. Join the SRG members
to hear more about the book, the recipes, and SRGs – and support SRGs by buying
your own copy!

LIFE ON THE BREADLINE: THE ROLE OF CHURCHES IN CHALLENGING POVERTY

BIG GREATER MANCHESTER CONVERSATION ON POVERTY

12.15PM MONDAY 11 OCTOBER
A launch event at Methodist Central Hall will host "The Greater Manchester Big
Poverty Conversation" which will provide an opportunity for citizens from across
Greater Manchester to talk and hear about lived experiences of poverty and the
challenges facing individuals and communities post-Covid.

INDEPENDENT FOOD AID NETWORK (IFAN) DUDLEY 'WORRYING ABOUT MONEY' LEAFLET LAUNCH

10AM TUESDAY 12 OCTOBER
Based on learning from Scotland's 'A Menu for Change' project, Dudley's
'Worrying About Money?' leaflet has been co-designed to help people experiencing
financial insecurity, and those supporting them, to easily identify and access
appropriate financial support and advice. By helping people access any existing
financial entitlements and advice on income maximisation, the hope is to reduce
the need for emergency food aid.

CHALLENGING POVERTY IN THE NORTH EAST: A RIGHTS-BASED APPROACH

6PM WEDNESDAY 13 OCTOBER
Join the North East Child Poverty Commission and Thrive Teesside for this
online, regional Challenge Poverty Week event on taking a rights-based approach
– through the Socioeconomic Duty – to tackling poverty.
