------------------------------------------------------------

Our recent celebration of Columbus Day brought the usual critiques of the holiday with their accompanying misrepresentations of American history. What might shock many people is that the venerable Smithsonian Institution in September sponsored "teach-ins" in Washington, D.C. and in New York City to promote the "Zinn Education Project," an effort to indoctrinate teachers with socialist Howard Zinn's anti-American philosophies, including the campaign to abolish Columbus Day. Dr. Mary Grabar, author of the new Debunking Howard Zinn ([link removed]) : Exposing the Fake History That Turned a Generation Against America, explains. Reprinted with permission. Howard Zinn’s Anti-American Propaganda Takes Over The Smithsonian
Long ago, during my childhood, school began right after Labor Day, and Columbus Day, commemorating the date Christopher Columbus discovered the New World on Oct. 12, 1492, was the first holiday of the school year.

Not anymore. Columbus Day of late has been marked by defacement of statues and hordes of angry adolescents demanding an end to the holiday. Leading young people in the hate-fest are teachers who have been educated with Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States.”
