Our recent celebration of Columbus Day brought the usual critiques of the holiday with their accompanying misrepresentations of American history. What might shock many people is that the venerable Smithsonian Institution in September sponsored "teach-ins" in Washington, D.C. and in New York City to promote the "Zinn Education Project," an effort to indoctrinate teachers with socialist Howard Zinn's anti-American philosophies, including the campaign to abolish Columbus Day.
