ALEC's sneak attack on MontCo union rights

Montgomery County police officers could lose their collective bargaining rights if Bill 34-20 passes, warns UFCW 1994/MCGEO. The bill, which Local 1994 says is "right out of Scott Walker's and [link removed] ALEC's playbook," also threatens other public sector bargaining rights, the union warns. "How long before they take away the rights of our public health nurses, our bus drivers, or our parks workers?" Bill 34-20 is sponsored by Councilmembers Hans Reimer and Craig Rice.
Local 1994 is urging concerned MontCo residents to call the public safety committee's members and tell them to vote no on Bill 34-20: Councilmember Katz at 240-777-7906; Councilmember Albornoz at 240-777-7959 and Councilmember Hucker at 240-777-7960.

Today's Labor Quote: Mother Jones

"In Georgia where children work day and night in the cotton mills they have just passed a bill to protect song birds. What about the little children from whom all song is gone?"

Mother Jones led a march of miners' children through the streets of Charleston, West Virginia on this date in 1913.
