On Monday, September 20, the House of Representatives will vote on advancing the Build Back Better Act, which includes funding for many important social needs, but also inexplicably sneaks in a $50 billion subsidy for nuclear energy ([link removed]) , $15 billion subsidy for fossil fuels ([link removed]) , and funding for expensive false solutions such as carbon capture ([link removed]) and hydrogen ([link removed]) .

Funding these false climate solutions takes a huge amount of money away from the investments we desperately need in renewable energy, weatherization, energy efficiency, and building electrification to address catastrophic climate change.

Call your Representative in the House ([link removed]) TODAY: (202) 224-3121
Also please call Sen. Schumer and tell him to stop these subsidies in the Senate: (202) 224-6542

“Hello, my name is _____. I am calling from [CITY/STATE] regarding the Build Back Better Act. I am calling to ask [REPRESENTATIVE] to oppose the inclusion of subsidies for uncompetitive nuclear energy, fossil fuels, and expensive false solutions such as carbon capture and hydrogen in the Build Back Better Act. Instead, I hope [REPRESENTATIVE] will push for more spending on real climate solutions like renewable energy and energy efficiency and heat pumps. Renewables and efficiency are more cost effective ([link removed]) , reduce more emissions ([link removed]) , are safer ([link removed]) , and create more jobs ([link removed]) than nuclear
energy. Thank you.”
