Relieve Suffering and Reveal Hope to People Affected by the Storm
Hurricane Ida made landfall August 29 near Port Fourchon, Louisiana, as a Category 4 storm. Winds reached up to 150 mph. Louisiana residents are being urged to shelter in place until the storm passes. More than 500,000 people are without power. Severe flooding is an additional danger as levees have the potential to fail due to the extreme rainfall.
Louisiana governor, John Bel Edwards, stated, “Hurricane Ida is one of the strongest storms to ever hit Louisiana.”
