Dear Comrades,

In case you missed it, our Racial Justice Working Group recorded a great presentation about the actual CAHOOTS model, presented by a CAHOOTS worker. If you want to learn how it functions, it's well worth watching. I think you might be surprised at how ambitious the program is. Click here for the recording ([link removed]) . The main presentation is about 25 minutes, followed by discussion.

Tonight at 7pm, outside City Hall, Tone Lanzillo is holding another climate vigil, this one focused on housing and the homeless, called Vigil for The Vulnerable. It focuses on the 2018 report, "Duluth Vulnerable Populations and Adaptation Framework," as well as climate concerns that especially affect lower income people.

Wednesday at 5:30 our Racial Justice Working Group gathers online for its regular meeting. Contact Lydia at [email protected] if you want to be involved.

Thursday, at UMD, at the activities fair, our still new YDSA chapter will be tabling for the first time. If you are on campus, stop by for literature, a button and conversation.

Pride Fest / Pride Parade / Labor Day Parade

On Saturday, September 4th, 11am - 7 pm. we will be tabling at the Pride Festival at Bayfront Park. Stop by and talk, or sit at our tent for a spell. Look for the DSA banner and flag.

Then we have the Duluth-Superior PRIDE Parade on Sunday, Sept. 5. Lineup is at 1623 Broadway in Superior at 11 AM with parade to start at Noon. We need people, and this is a fun parade, so join us!

The next day we celebrate the Labor movement. The Cloquet Labor Day Parade is on Monday, Sept. 6. Lineup is 10 AM at 17th St and Ave C behind the Northwoods Credit Union on Ave B. Parade starts at 11 AM. DSA wants to do everything possible to make the labor movement stronger, from winning strikes to organizing workplaces to moving worker-friendly legislation. In some states like New York our efforts are starting to really pay off. Take the time to join us with our float. We need good participation. We have a ton of Medicare For All stickers to hand out.

In Solidarity,
John Krumm
TPDSA Secretary

(If you have been receiving these emails and aren't a member yet, we want you to join! Our goals are both broad and local, and we intend to win as many as possible. Simply put--the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, green housing for all, a justice system that helps instead of harms, an end to poverty, socialists in office everywhere--these goals and more will not happen without mass participation.
