I was born in Jamaica and immigrated to the U.S. in 1958 -- I personally know what it’s like to navigate a new country, adopt a new culture, and build my family from the ground up. As a New York City Council Member, I have led campaigns for immigrant rights and citizenship in order to help those who came after me. And I know that Yvette carries her heritage and immigrant roots with her to Congress.
