I'm about to call a finance meeting, so I wanted to make sure you saw the congresswoman's email below before I share some tough news with her and the rest of the team: As of an hour ago, we're still $9,660 short of our midnight fundraising goal – with only hours left to make up the shortfall.

I'm reaching out to you personally because I thought it was important that you know what happens if we don't hit goals like this. I won't be able to make the advertising investments we need to stay competitive. I won't be able to mobilize field staff to register Floridians to vote, just when national Republicans are putting $10 million behind their own efforts.

Plain and simple, it means some difficult budget decisions when we need to go all in to flip Florida blue. So when I come out of this finance meeting, I want to be able to tell the congresswoman we crushed this goal. Will you please rush a donation of $5 or more now – seriously, whatever you can spare to help us hit this goal – so we can defeat Marco Rubio and expand our Democratic Senate majority?

Friend, I just wrapped up a finance meeting, and the main point of discussion was this: How am I going to overcome the combined $32 million Marco Rubio and the Senate Republican campaign arm just raised? 

My grassroots fundraising is drastically slowing down at the worst possible moment. I still need to raise another $42,000 to hit my mid-month goal, friend. 

The Cook Political Report increased my chances of winning. We're gaining ground, and the GOP is taking notice. That's why they're parachuting in to destroy that momentum: National Republicans just committed another $10 million to keeping Florida red permanently. Missing my goal tonight makes it even harder to compete with that kind of investment.
