[1]Cori Bush

Let’s talk about budgets,
John.

Budgets are moral documents. Meaning, our government’s true priorities and
values are often reflected in the budgets our elected leaders set.

This year our government set a $700,000,000,000+ defense budget. Make no
mistake: the billions we’re spending is at the expense of our social
safety net.

We have the resources to fund transformative policies like Medicare for
All, a Green New Deal for Cities, and housing for all. The challenge is
our politicians’ willingness to fight for policies that lift up regular,
everyday people rather than their wealthy donors who benefit from a
bloated defense budget.

Cori has made it clear she isn’t afraid to advocate for the urgent
policies our communities need. [ [link removed] ]Will you chip in $5 or
anything you can to support Cori as she works in Congress to prioritize
spending for housing, health care, and life-saving policies?

We know what the truth is when Republicans and political pundits say “we
don’t have the money” for the programs Cori and our progressive movement
are advocating for.

If we have $700,000,000,000 to fund our military, money is not the issue.

But for too long, the majority of our members in Congress have been
recipients of donations from the military-industrial complex and special
interests who have a lot to gain from a massive defense budget. For too
long, we’ve been caught in a cycle of re-electing politicians who don’t
understand what it's like to struggle to make ends meet, afford health
care, and survive as a modern working person in America.

But ever since we succeeded in sending Cori to Congress, she’s been
shaking up the status quo and speaking out to transform the way we do
politics.

Cori’s ready to continue advocating for the urgent policies our
communities need and push back against old-fashioned, broken budget
priorities. [ [link removed] ]But she can’t do this alone: Please
donate $5 right now or whatever is meaningful for you to
help us fight for a future where health care, housing, and safety is
prioritized in our budgets.

In solidarity,

Team Cori
