John - as you may have seen the census numbers were released today and our team is pouring over the numbers as we speak. Here’s what we know:
1. California will be losing a Congressional seat for the first time ever. This means Josh’s district will be redrawn from scratch. We will for sure have thousands of new voters we need to talk to for the first time.
2. Our purple seat could get even redder. Josh talks a lot about how our district is in a sea of red, and he’s right. It’s possible this race gets even tougher.
3. We won’t know anything definitively for months. Final maps won’t come out until early next year, so we have to be ready for anything.
As soon as new district lines are announced, we need to move quickly to reach out to new voters who aren’t familiar with Josh. Can you rush $5 or more to help us prepare for the rollout of new district lines in California?

We were already facing one of the most competitive re-election challenges of 2022. Now, things just got twice as hard.
Once new district lines are laid out, we will need to deploy an aggressive voter engagement strategy to raise Josh’s name-ID among Democratic and moderate voters, hire organizers in new turf, and begin running digital ads to get Josh’s message in front of as many new voters as possible. Because California has never lost a Congressional seat before, we’re entering into uncharted territory -- and we need to have the resources it will take to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
