Keeping our communities safe and healthy has always been my top priority. It's one of the reasons I ran for Congress and what's fueled me throughout the past year and a half.

With the Delta COVID-19 variant overwhelming hospitals across the country, I wanted to ensure you had the resources needed to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19.

The number one thing to know right now is that vaccines don't protect against COVID-19 -- vaccinations do. Three different COVID-19 vaccines are widely available, but only a little over half of Coloradans are vaccinated right now. We can't stop until every eligible Coloradan is fully vaccinated.

And while the vaccine is the best and most effective precaution against COVID-19, it isn't the only one. I strongly encourage you to consider masking up when you're in public indoor spaces, regardless of vaccinated status, to slow the spread of the Delta variant. Please also quarantine and get a COVID-19 test if you come into contact with someone who tested positive.

John, we've come so far already but still have so far to go to fully recover from COVID-19. I know that if we all do our part, we'll be able to move forward.
