This is particularly pronounced in Black children who are almost three times more likely to have elevated levels of lead in their bloodstream.

According to recent studies, more than 56% of New York public schools tested above the current statewide action level, exposing children to harmful levels of lead in their drinking water.
The Safe School Drinking Water Act is a crucial step towards ensuring our children have equal opportunity to grow and thrive in school, regardless of where they live or the color of their skin.
