National coalition joins PLF against government-sanctioned home theft

When Oakland County, Michigan, seized and sold Uri Rafaeli’s home over an accidental $8.41 tax underpayment, he fought back. Now, his case heads to the Michigan Supreme Court, where he’ll have the growing support of a national coalition of liberty-minded allies and property owners who recognize that the government shouldn’t steal a home’s entire equity to collect far smaller tax debts.

We’re grateful for the supporting briefs filed by our friends at the Institute for Justice, the Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, the AAPR Foundation, and several other victims of Michigan’s predatory property hustle. They join The Buckeye Institute in Ohio, who temporarily threw aside rivalry to proclaim, “Even citizens of that state up north deserve to have their property rights protected.”
