Research has shown that a high-quality educator is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic success. However, what makes an educator high-quality and how to measure their effectiveness is often controversial, leading to disparate evaluation policies across states. Join us as we discuss with state leaders how they have approached educator evaluation systems and to hear the research on how we can ensure that all students have access to a high-quality teacher.

Language and literacy find their roots in the years of early childhood. We’ll be joined by leaders from four innovative literacy initiatives to explore how states can best support the literacy development of young learners.

Remote learning posed challenges for particular groups of students even before the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, as institutions of higher education plan to return to campus at full capacity for the first time since March 2020, many campus leaders are ready to say goodbye to remote learning, but is that the best course of action? Hear from three leading experts on what to consider before permanently closing the doors on virtual learning.

As students enter a third school year that has been impacted by the effects of COVID-19, the question of how to support students socially and emotionally is daunting, to say the least. Multiple years of trauma, social isolation, and precarious living situations will have left some students scarred and unprepared for the social atmosphere of the school building. This session will aim to identify some of those most important social and emotional priorities for students and identify effective, equitable, and culturally-responsive strategies for supporting students.
