** AMAZON MAKES NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING INVESTMENT IN ARLINGTON

** This month, Amazon announced it will donate $40 million in vacant land on Crystal House parcels, creating more than 550 new affordable homes in the County. The announcement is a part of Amazon’s commitment earlier this year to provide $381.9 million in low-rate loans and grants to the Washington Housing Conservancy through its Housing Equity Fund ([link removed]) .

** 2021 brings transitions to housing organizations in Arlington with new leaders taking the helm at both APAH and AHC. APAH's former Executive Vice President Carmen Romero has assumed the role of President and CEO following Nina Janopaul's retirement this spring. Likewise, AHC, Inc. announced that Susan Cunningham has been appointed interim CEO while a nationwide search is conducted for the spot.

AHS wishes these two incoming leaders the best of luck as they bring a new generation of ideas and energy to Arlington's affordable housing challenges.

** QUEENS COURT AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMUNITY OPENS

** After more than a decade of planning, the new Queens Court Apartments opened in June in Rosslyn. This critically needed housing will provide affordable homes for 249 households. The 12-story complex replaced 39 garden apartments that were built in 1940.
