Already, millions are feeling the impact. Families now have more money in their bank accounts to pay for essential needs as our country still grapples with the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. The expansion of the child tax credit is an example of what government can do for people when we think big and prioritize direct aid to those who need it.

Friend, one of the reasons I was proud to vote for the American Rescue Plan was its expansion of the child tax credit.

Monthly payments will begin going out next month. They will help millions of families better afford childcare and basic living necessities. In the wake of a devastating pandemic and accompanying economic recession, expanding the child tax credit for 2021 was an essential component for providing relief.
