Brittany Ramos DeBarros is a proud Afro-Latina Staten Islander, U.S. Army Veteran and community organizer running for Congress in New York’s 11th District.
Brittany comes from a military family. Like so many, her family worked hard, but still struggled to make ends meet. They almost lost their home more than once, at times relying on their local church community to help them get by.
Brittany knew something was wrong with a system where people working multiple jobs still can’t stay above water.
Through an Army scholarship, Brittany attended the University of Miami. By graduation she had become an Army officer and platoon leader responsible for 40 lives, eventually receiving orders to deploy to Afghanistan.
After her service, Brittany and her husband settled in Staten Island and immediately fell in love with the diverse, inclusive and eclectic community that makes up NY-11.
Since her return from Afghanistan, Brittany has become a vocal anti-war activist, organizing around issues such as veterans’ resources, healthcare, and housing.
Now Brittany is running for Congress to end the cycle of broken promises from the leaders and systems that continue to hurt our communities.
In her own words:
“All my life I’ve seen the way our politics and our economy are rigged against us. I know what it’s like to be spoken for and spoken over; to not belong. I don't want to live in a world of lies, violence, and greed. Our truths matter, our lives matter, and fighting for our freedom and future matters.”
Brittany’s running an unbought, unbossed and unafraid campaign that calls for Medicare for All, passing a Green New Deal, cancelling ALL student loan and medical debt, and jobs and housing as human rights.
John, will you help us elect this fierce, progressive warrior to NY-11 by splitting a contribution between BNC and Brittany Ramos DeBarros today? [[link removed]]
NY-11 is Republican-held, making this a highly contested race. Between the GOP’s massive fundraising haul and the corporate backed efforts of the Democratic establishment, we have a tough fight ahead. But Brittany has never been afraid of a challenge and Brand New Congress is doing everything we can to elect another progressive voice to New York’s congressional delegation.
The working families of Staten Island deserve a representative who will put their needs first. Will you join our fight and support Brittany’s BOLD, progressive campaign for NY-11?

[link removed] [[link removed]]Since 2016 BNC has led the way in advancing popular policies like Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and Abolishing ICE. In 2018 we recruited and elected AOC. In 2020, we elected Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman, and we helped Rashida Tlaib win a tough re-election fight.
We are building yet another strong slate of progressives for 2022. Pitch in today and join us as we take over Congress and return power to the people.
