** Hard work pays off with Myanmar sanctions ([link removed])

Working tirelessly behind the scenes while publicly leading the international call for sanctions against Myanmar, our Forests team welcomed fresh action from the EU and UK. The Council of the EU has approved a wave of sanctions against Myanmar’s natural resources sector, especially timber exports, which generate hard currency for the illegitimate military regime. EIA has been exposing Myanmar’s illegal timber exports and the international timber traders profiting from this crime for the past decade.

** Selous must lose its World Heritage status ([link removed])

EIA has called for Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve to be stripped of its World Heritage Site status due to the damage caused by construction of a controversial dam, warning custodians of such sites that reckless environmental vandalism is unacceptable.
