The SOUTH TEXAS SUMMIT was hosted virtually on June 22-24 and offered
continuing education to nearly 100 youth-serving professionals from South
Texas. Special thanks to The Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation, UTHealth Rio
Grande Valley Obstetrics and Gynecology, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of
South Texas, and Walmart #6786 for their financial support of this event,
and to event co-sponsor DSHS/HHSC.

The NORTH TEXAS SUMMIT which was scheduled from June 28-30, has been
canceled. Instead, we rescheduled select presentations to be a part of the
Texas Campaign's monthly webinar series. Registration details can be found
here [3].

The AMARILLO AND PERMIAN BASIN SUMMITS are both in planning stages. If you
are interested in serving on the planning committee for either of these
events, please email Melanie at [email protected].

Community Engagement

This year at our annual fundraiser, _Cheers!_ we are showcasing three short
stories to relay different lived experiences in the adolescent reproductive
health world. Do you have a story to tell? Are you a practitioner, a
parent, or a teen? We would love to hear your point of view! Please contact
[email protected] to learn more.

Research & Data

Charts of the Month

The Texas Campaign's 2020 Gap Analysis Report, "Big Challenges and Bright
Opportunities: Adolescent Sexual Health in Texas," found that although 75%
of Texas voters agree that LGBTQ+ inclusivity should be addressed in sex
education in Texas public schools, only 1% of the 725 Texans who were asked
indicated that LGBTQ+ topics were covered in their sex education
experience. There is a clear disconnect between what Texas youth, and their
parents, consider to be adequate sexual education and what they are
receiving. June is Pride Month, a celebration of sexual and gender
expression diversity, as well as a time to remember and support the ongoing
fight for equality. While positive strides have been made towards better
sex education in Texas, it is imperative to center LGBTQ+ inclusivity in
future progress.

_All research reported is from a 2020 Gap Analysis conducted by 1000
Feathers. For more information about sex education in Texas and the Gap
Analysis Report visit [link removed] [9]_
