Hi Friend,

I’m Genna Williams, and I work with The Trevor Project as the Advocacy & Government Affairs Coordinator. Through legislation, litigation, and public education, we’re able to be the leading advocate for LGBTQ young people in preventative efforts that address the discrimination, stigma, and other factors that place LGBTQ youth at significantly higher risk of suicide.

None of my work would be possible without the support you’ve shown to The Trevor Project.

On my team, advocacy and activism are always how we show love. My number one priority as a visibly and vocally queer adult of color is making sure that young LGBTQ folx feel validated and loved.

We’re working night and day to pass federal and state legislation that would make our country a better place for LGBTQ young people. You can take a look at some of our federal priorities here. ([link removed])

One of our biggest priorities right now is working to pass the Equality Act. Our team advocates for laws like this that protect young people from harmful practices, enable them to access affirming healthcare, or equip the institutions within their communities to respond to a suicide crisis should it arise. The Equality Act seeks to ensure equality for the LGBTQ population by amending the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Click here to take action ([link removed]) in support of passing the Equality Act.

Friend, I want you to learn more about the work we’re doing in Advocacy & Government Affairs at The Trevor Project by clicking here ([link removed]) . Our job is to create a world without the barriers to a happy and healthy life that so many LGBTQ young people face now – one state, one city, one school at a time.
