Eager to represent: Gay and trans Mexican candidates
running in key vote
Nearly 2 percent of more than 6,000 Mexican candidates who responded to a national survey identified as LGBTQ.
117 out LGBTQ candidates ran for local and national races all around Mexico. And even better? Many of them are making LGBTQ history! Adolfo Cerqueda made history as the first Mayor of Nezahualcóyotl, shattering a huge rainbow ceiling in Mexico. And Lucía Verdín Limón made history as the first lesbian city councilor from the municipality of León, Guanajuato!
