The 2022 election cycle is already heating up. As of this week, four Texas statewide officials have either resigned or have drawn primary challengers. Land Commissioner George P. Bush ([link removed]) and Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman ([link removed]) have each resigned to seek higher office, leaving an open seat to fill. Governor Greg Abbott ([link removed]) and Attorney General Ken Paxton ([link removed]) will face challengers from their own party.
